Detective Blue

It was a quiet day in the city. Detective Blue sat at his desk thinking about how far he had come since his days as Little Boy Blue. From the fields of cows and sheep where he blew his horn to the big city streets where mysteries happen and cases get solved. But this new mystery is no small thing like some dish running away with a spoon. This mystery is serious. Miss Muffet is missing and people are frightened! Well, at least, Jack Sprat is a little worried. Anyhow, it's a mystery. Where is she? Is she okay? Can Detective Blue solve the biggest case of his career?
I have always wanted to illustrate a comic book, or as some people say, a "graphic novel". The word "novel" may not apply to a 32 page picture book but it isn't exactly right to call Detective Blue a comic book either. So let's just call it one of those "cartoon thingies in boxes with word balloons and stuff". So here is my first CTIBWWBAS, written by long-time friend at Scholastic, Steve Metzger, who worked as editor on my series of books about Huggly, the monster under the bed. I dedicated Detective Blue to another friend, Matt McElligott who introduced me to illustrating on the computer. Detective Blue is my first attempt at digital illustration. It was challenging to get started but I love learning new things. Most importantly, I think I impressed my computer-savvy kids, Walter and William!
